U.S. Copyright Registration

Federal copyright registration creates an official public record of your ownership and is required before you can pursue infringement claims in court. This service handles the preparation and filing so you don't have to navigate the Copyright Office on your own.

FILING FEE

BleuMoon's administrative fee is $50 per work. The U.S. Copyright Office filing fee is separate and will be added at checkout based on the registration details you select below.

Because certain platforms require the account holder to personally complete identity verification and security steps, the Client must complete those portions of the setup themselves.

WHICH APPLICATION DO I NEED?

Review the list below to determine which application type applies to your work(s), then select the corresponding option below.

• Single Application — $45 Filing Fee
  For a single work with one author and one copyright owner, where both are the same individual. The work cannot be made for hire. The work may either be published or unpublished. This can cover both a sound recording and its underlying musical composition.
• Standard Application — $65 Filing Fee
  For a single work that does not meet the $45 criteria (e.g., multiple authors, work made for hire, or claimant and author differ). The work may be published or unpublished. This can cover both a sound recording and its underlying musical composition ONLY if the claimant(s) for both are the same.
• GRUW — Group of Unpublished Works — $85 Filing Fee
  Register up to 10 unpublished works in a single application. All works must be the same administrative class type (e.g., think all sound recordings (class SR) or all sheet music (class PA) — no mixing), unless the author(s) and claimant(s) are the same for each sound recording and its underlying composition.
• GRAM — Group Registration of Albums of Music — $65 Filing Fee
  Register up to 20 musical works published together on a cohesive album, on the same date. All works must be published. This option is for albums only. This cannot be 20 unrelated singles.

For clarity and context within the music industry, “published” generally means released, posted online, or otherwise distributed to the public.
